About our club
Chess club TJ Slávia PU Prešov is one of the oldest clubs in Prešov. It was transformed from the ZPA Prešov club. Pavol Čisárik has been its president for many years. Other founding members of the club are Miroslav Dragula, Miroslav Kováčik and Ján Eremiáš.
The club not only has a long tradition, but is also known as a club that educates young chess players. Thanks to the coaches Pavel Čisárik and previously Jaroslav Košeľa and Ján Eremiaš, many students and young people found their way to chess. They devoted themselves to them from an early age, step by step. Many did not even know how to write and were already learning to play chess. They had to kneel on chairs to reach the pieces on the chessboard.
We can also boast of success at the Slovak chess championships, especially in the girls' category, where we achieved several championships and medal positions. We will mention Ivana Sedláková, Zuzana Košelová, Jana Liščinská, Lucia Liščinská, Monika Plančárová, Stela Saloková. The boys Jonáš Dujava and Adam Novotný were not far behind.
Our girls also took part in the World and European Championships, the European Union Championships.
We also regularly play in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th chess leagues. This is where our young players get their chance. They gain important experience. They are complemented by an older, more experienced generation of players.
We increase our performance through regular training. Many of our students went to other clubs at a later age.

Our history
The chess club TJ Slávia PU Prešov was established thanks to the initiative of Mr. Miroslav Dragula, Pavel Čisárik and Ján Eremiaš. These chess players came from the clubs ZPA Prešov and Autobrzdy Prešov (VAP Prešov).
In 1985, after the demise of the VAP Prešov chess club and the separation of some members from ZPA Prešov, the chess section of TJ Slávia PU Prešov was officially founded.
From the very beginning, Pavol Čisárik and Ján Eremiaš have been actively working with children, pupils and youth, either in elementary schools or within the Leisure Center. Many of their wards are today among the successful chess players of Prešov.
Miroslav Dragula, the first chairman of the section, also focused on organizational activities in the 3rd and 4th leagues, where at that time our chess club was competing. The current chairman of the club is Pavol Čisárik.
Among the club's most significant achievements is its promotion to the 1st league. Currently, the club is represented in the 2nd league and two teams in the 3rd league - one consists of experienced players, the other consists of schoolchildren and teenagers. Three teams play in the 4th league.
In the youth categories, our players achieve leading positions at the Slovak championships, while we can be proud of several titles of champions and vice-champions. Some of our members even represented Slovakia at the World and European Championships. An important member of the club is also the female FIDE champion (WFM) Ivana Sedláková.

1985 – Foundation of the chess club
The chess club TJ Slávia PU Prešov was founded in 1985 by Miroslav Dragula, Pavol Čisárik and Ján Eremiaš.

Our playing room
The playing room of our chess club is located at ul. Hviezdoslavova 22, Prešov, in the building of the Voluntary Fire Department of the Slovak Republic, Prešov. It is close to the NOVUM shopping center.
We are easily accessible by public transport and by car. You can find the exact location on the map below.
Adult club members have meetings in the club and training every Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Youth training is arranged individually with Ing. Pavol Čisárik, chairman of the club.
