The Slovak Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2026 has started

The chess festival is in full swing in Prešov. The Slovak Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2026 is already writing its first stories and after the opening day, the players have completed the first four rounds of the individual rapid tournament.

Players from various corners of Slovakia have arrived in Prešov, including experienced representatives, young talents and chess enthusiasts who want to compete in one of the most prestigious domestic competitions. The tournament is taking place at the Hotel Lineas and after a long time, eastern Slovakia is hosting an event of such importance.

After the first four rounds, it is already clear that the fight for the title of Slovak champion will be extremely close. Several favorites have so far confirmed their qualities, but the tournament also brought several surprises and fighting games until the last seconds.

The atmosphere of the event is also enhanced by the participation of children and youth, who gain valuable experience against strong opponents. It is the combination of experienced players with the young generation that creates an exceptional sporting atmosphere in Prešov and shows that Slovak chess has a future.

The tournament continues tomorrow with further rounds and will gradually decide who will win the title of Slovak Rapid Chess Champion. The winners will also gain the right to represent Slovakia at the European and World Championships.

The organizers believe that Prešov will offer not only high-quality chess throughout the weekend, but also excellent advertising for chess in eastern Slovakia, where a similar top event has been missing for a long time.

The decisive battles are still ahead of us and we will soon meet the new champions of Slovakia.
